With a genuine three-head drive and Dolby S, the Sony TC-KB920S sits in the upper tier of Sony's QS cassette decks. Separate record and playback heads allow off-tape monitoring: during recording you hear directly from the tape and compare the sound with the source in real time. Bias and recording level can be calibrated by hand to each cassette, so the deck adapts to a wide range of tape formulations.

It is aimed at anyone who makes their own recordings carefully while keeping control over bias and level, as well as collectors who want to play an existing cassette collection faithfully. The black QS-format housing blends discreetly into an existing system.
