Cassette Decks

As part of the maintenance of cassette drives, the entire drive mechanism is serviced. This includes thorough cleaning, replacement of vulnerable plastic parts, and treatment of certain components with application-specific grease or oil. To ensure reliable operation, the belts are replaced. The pinch rollers are carefully inspected and, if necessary, also replaced.

After maintenance, each drive is calibrated using high-quality test cassettes (level, tape speed, and azimuth (optimal playback of high frequencies)) and operated in an extended test run. By analyzing the recording quality of a high-frequency sine tone, we can, in some cases, determine the quality of the playback head. Based on this data, we also decide whether the device is still suitable for sale.

Other tasks include demagnetizing the playback head, Dolby settings, and settings for automatic tape calibration.
Depending on the device model, we consider additional factors to ensure we can offer you a long-lasting device.

CD Players

As part of CD player maintenance, the entire laser mechanism including the laser unit is cleaned, and drive components are treated with application-specific grease or oil.

To ensure reliable operation, we test the devices with special test CDs. Using the so-called "eye pattern," which is measured with an oscilloscope, we can determine how well the laser reads the information on the CD. Based on this data, we decide whether the devices are still suitable for sale or whether the laser unit needs to be replaced.

Other tasks include adjusting the focus and tracking. The laser unit is always handled with the utmost care.

Video Recorders (VHS, Beta, Hi8, Video8, MiniDV, etc.)

Maintenance involves thorough cleaning and inspection of all tape-guiding parts, including the drum/head. Special attention is paid to the pinch roller, certain plastic parts (common cause of failure), and of course the tracking alignment of the recorder. If necessary, alignment is carried out. Depending on the device model, we consider additional factors to ensure we can offer you a long-lasting device.

Electronics

The electronics of the devices are thoroughly inspected. Thanks to many years of experience, we can fix certain or type-specific weaknesses before they lead to a malfunction. For certain devices, this can significantly increase their lifespan.
