Yamaha CDC-665 — 5-disc CD changer with PlayXChange and optical digital output

Five albums in the tray, no pauses for swapping: the carousel of this Yamaha from the Natural Sound series holds five compact discs at once; the tray opens fully and exposes all five positions in one go. The PlayXChange function takes it one step further — while one disc is playing, the other four can be exchanged and the music simply carries on. The playback section works with harmonic distortion of no more than 0.003 percent and a signal-to-noise ratio of at least 106 dB — figures you would otherwise expect from single-disc CD players.

The CDC-665 is at its best wherever music should run for hours — in the living room as well as when dubbing to cassette. For that it brings automatic tape programming matched to the tape length, a peak level search for setting the recording level and CD synchronized recording with compatible Yamaha cassette decks. Connection is either analogue via the level-adjustable line output or digital via the optical TOSLINK output; for late hours there is a headphone jack with its own level control.
