Yamaha CDX-E100 — mini-size CD player with CD Text and optical digital output

More compact than classic full-width hi-fi components, yet with a fully-fledged CD section: at just 217 mm wide, the CDX-E100 from Yamaha’s E100 series fits where standard-width units will not — on a shelf, on a desk or in a compact system. Inside, an S-bit D/A converter with 8x oversampling digital filter does the work; frequency response spans 2 to 20,000 Hz within ±0.5 dB, and the signal-to-noise ratio is 102 dB.

Via the analogue cinch output the player works with any amplifier that has a free line input, while the optical digital output additionally feeds the signal to an MD recorder or D/A converter. With CD Text discs, the display shows disc title, artist and track names. Combined with the RX-E100 receiver and further E100 components, the CDX-E100 can be operated jointly through the system connector — for instance for tape programming, which arranges tracks to suit the length of a cassette.
