TDA1549T Bitstream DAC: A rarely used but sonically outstanding D/A converter. Unlike the widely used standard chips, the TDA1549 offers extremely natural, analog-like reproduction with excellent resolution and dynamics, which is why the CD911 is often considered an audiophile bargain.
CDM-12.1 drive: Philips moved away from the swing arm in this series and opted for the CDM-12.1 linear drive.
Coaxial digital output: The CD911 has a full-fledged electrical digital output (RCA). This makes it ideal for use as a pure drive on an external modern DAC.
ESI bus system: The player can be perfectly integrated into a Philips 900 series system via the ESI (Enhanced System Intelligence) sockets. This allows it to be controlled via the amplifier's remote control and enables synchronized recording (dubbing) with compatible cassette decks.
Extensive editing functions: The device offers useful functions for tape recordings, such as the "Edit" function, which automatically compiles the tracks so that they fit optimally on one side of the cassette.
Adjustable headphone output: There is a 6.3 mm jack connection on the front, the volume of which can be adjusted directly via a small rotary control – ideal for enjoying music without an amplifier.
Frequency response: 2 Hz – 20,000 Hz.
Dynamic range: > 90 dB.
Signal-to-noise ratio: > 100 dB (typical for bitstream).
Channel separation: > 95 dB.
