Teac CD-Z500 — CD player with fixed and variable output plus optical digital output

Champagne-coloured front, gold-coloured feet and a tidy row of keys — the CD-Z500 from Teac presents itself as a classic full-width CD player. Discs are loaded via the central tray; play, pause, stop and track skip sit as solid metal keys right on the front panel, while a display key switches the readout of the red-tinted display. A striking detail is the output control with min-max scale above the 6.3 mm headphone jack, which lets you adjust the output level directly on the unit.

The rear panel is equally flexible: alongside the fixed cinch output there is a second, variable cinch pair — useful when feeding a power amplifier or active speakers without their own volume control. The optical digital output passes the signal on to an external converter or recorder, and the remote control jacks allow the unit to be linked with matching Teac components. A remote control is included.
