Onkyo DX-7511 — CD player with Accupulse conversion, two digital outputs and variable output

A clearly laid-out front, a solid full-width metal chassis and a tray bearing the FPCS lettering (Fine Pulse Conversion System): the DX-7511 is a pure CD player for the stereo system, with Onkyo entrusting conversion to a 1-bit PWM method called Accupulse. Transport, programming and display can all be operated from the front panel, with the large display sitting centrally below the tray.

Connected to an integrated amplifier or receiver, it works via its fixed RCA output like any classic source. To drive a power amplifier or active speakers directly, use the second RCA pair with adjustable level. An optical and a coaxial digital output are available for external DACs, digital amplifiers or a recorder. The unit has no recording function.

Highlights & Features

1-bit PWM D/A converter Accupulse with 8-times oversampling (352.8 kHz), tray labelled FPCS (Fine Pulse Conversion System).
Two digital outputs on the rear: optical (Toslink) and coaxial (RCA) for external DACs, amplifiers with digital input or digital recorders.
Dual analogue outputs: one RCA pair FIXED with fixed level for amplifiers and one RCA pair VARIABLE whose level is set with the OUTPUT LEVEL knob (MIN–MAX).
Numeric keypad 1–0 and +10 below the display for direct track selection; track programming via MEMORY and CLEAR.
MUSIC FILE key group with FILE and ERASE plus a TIME EDIT key as additional programme functions on the front.
DISPLAY key for switching the display and DIMMER key for dimming it.
Track skip and search as separate key pairs, wide transport keys for play, pause and stop.
Headphone output, 6.3 mm jack, on the front, designed for headphones from 8 to 200 ohms.
RI REMOTE CONTROL: two 3.5 mm jacks for integration into an Onkyo system setup.
