Denon PMA-500AE – Stereo Integrated Amplifier with Source Direct, Phono Input and Two Tape Loops

A large volume knob in the centre, tone controls on the left and the input selector on the right: the Denon PMA-500AE is easy to operate at first sight. This stereo integrated amplifier combines preamplifier and power stage in a full-width black cabinet and does without a display or menus. Anyone who wants to hear their music as unaltered as possible can take the tone controls out of the signal path at the push of a button.

The unit is at its best as the hub of a classic stereo system. Besides a turntable, CD player, tuner and DVD player, two recorders can stay connected permanently, for example a cassette deck and a MiniDisc or CD recorder, so dubbing works without re-plugging cables.

Highlights & Features

SOURCE DIRECT: at the push of a button the selected source bypasses the tone controls on its way to the power stage – for a sound that is as unaltered as possible.
Phono input with its own signal ground terminal (SIGNAL GND) for connecting a turntable directly.
Rotary selector with six sources: Phono, CD, Tuner, DVD/AUX, Tape-1/CD-R and Tape-2/MD.
Two recorder loops with playback (PB) and record (REC) jacks for a cassette deck, CD recorder or MiniDisc recorder.
Speaker A/B switching with separate buttons: run two pairs of speakers individually or together, for example in two rooms.
Tone controls for bass, treble and balance plus switchable loudness for balanced sound at low volume.
6.3 mm headphone jack on the front panel.
Remote sensor on the front; a new, pre-programmed replacement remote control is included.
Switched AC outlet on the rear that powers a connected component on and off together with the amplifier.
