Teac V-600 — cassette deck with Dolby B/C, HX Pro, CD synchro recording and CPS programme search

Built for everyday cassette use without any operating hurdles: the V-600 belongs to Teac's clearly laid-out single-well decks, where a combined record/playback head, an erase head and a DC servo motor take care of tape transport. Transport commands run through light-touch keys with IC logic control, and the fluorescent display shows level, transport mode and counter at a glance. Dolby B and Dolby C are on hand for low-noise recordings; HX Pro additionally makes sure that high frequencies reach the tape with more headroom during recording.

That makes the deck a good match for listeners who mainly play cassettes and occasionally record their own — from a CD player, a tuner or a turntable via the amplifier. Owners of a Teac CD player with a synchro connection start a dub with a single key press. At 435 mm wide and around 4 kg, the unit fits into any rack.

Selectable noise reduction: Dolby B or Dolby C (OFF/B/C slide switch); Dolby HX Pro is not noise reduction but continuously adjusts the bias during recording — according to the manual up to 6 dB more high-frequency headroom depending on tape type, with no decoding needed on playback.
CD synchro recording: via the CD/DECK SYNC socket on the rear and a synchro cable (Teac WR-7000, optional accessory), a compatible Teac CD player and the deck start playback and recording together; the CD SYNC key on the front triggers the process and the display indicates synchro mode.
Computomatic Program Search (CPS): jumps to up to 20 track beginnings forwards or backwards, guided by blank sections of at least 4 seconds; INTRO CHECK plays the first 15 seconds of each track.
REC MUTE automatically inserts 4-second blanks during recording (longer ones while the key is held) — the basis for a reliably working programme search.
Automatic tape selection (normal, chrome/cobalt, metal) via the identification holes of the cassette.
Fluorescent display with peak level meter for both channels (up to +6 dB), transport mode indicator, REC/PLAY indicators and four-digit counter with COUNTER CLEAR key.
Recording level control (REC LEVEL) with scale and separate BALANCE control; headphone socket on the front that mutes the line outputs when a plug is inserted.
Remote sensor on the front: the transport can be operated with the UR remote control of a Teac receiver or amplifier (remote control not included).
