Yamaha A-670 – Midi-Size Stereo Integrated Amplifier with Wooden Side Panels and Subwoofer Output

Compact rather than full width: at 314 mm wide and 70 mm high, the Yamaha A-670 takes up far less shelf space than an amplifier in the usual 43 cm format. Its brushed aluminium front in silver is framed on the left and right by wooden side panels that give the small chassis a look of its own. Yamaha kept the design deliberately reduced: a single analogue source, no input switching, no display, just four classic rotary controls on the front and nothing else to distract.

That makes the A-670 a natural fit for a desk, a bookshelf or a small second system in a study or bedroom, where a CD player, network player or external DAC is the only source and a pair of compact loudspeakers needs driving. Tone controls are on hand when room or speakers call for a correction, and an active subwoofer can be added for more low-frequency weight.

Highlights & Features

Midi format: 314 mm wide, 70 mm high and only 3.3 kg – fits on a shelf or a desk; wooden side panels frame the silver aluminium front.
Up to 65 W + 65 W into 6 ohms (1 kHz, 10% THD); speaker terminals for one pair of loudspeakers of 6 ohms or more (screw terminals).
Tone control with bass and treble (±10 dB each) plus balance, all as solid rotary controls on the front panel.
Subwoofer output (RCA) for connecting an active subwoofer – adds low-frequency extension to small speakers.
Headphone output, 6.3 mm jack (gold-plated) on the front; speakers and subwoofer are muted when headphones are plugged in.
SYSTEM jack: linked by the system cable to a matching Yamaha network CD player (e.g. CD-NT670), the player's remote controls power/standby, volume and mute of the amplifier, and both units switch on and off together.
Auto power standby after 8 hours without operation, can be enabled or disabled on the unit.
Exactly one analogue stereo input (RCA) for a single source; no phono input and no input selector – a deliberately purist design.
