Yamaha BD-A1060 — Aventage Blu-ray player with SA-CD playback and balanced XLR outputs

Films and music from disc, combined with a clear focus on audio: within Yamaha’s Aventage line, the BD-A1060 stands for Blu-ray playback with an elaborate audio section. Besides Blu-ray Discs including 3D, it plays DVDs, audio CDs and Super Audio CDs (SA-CD); music, video and photo files are read from USB storage or via DLNA from the home network — wirelessly through the built-in Wi-Fi if desired.

For sound quality, the player offers two dedicated modes: CD mode cuts the power to circuits that are not needed during CD and SA-CD playback and slows the disc rotation for audio CDs, while Pure Direct reduces the active circuitry to a minimum for any source. Through the balanced XLR outputs, the player connects to amplifiers or AV receivers with matching inputs with low interference; cinch and digital outputs are available in parallel, and the HDMI output goes up to 4K (2160p) at 24 Hz. A pure playback device without recording function, it serves as the central disc source in a home cinema as well as in a stereo system.
