Denon DCD-1450AR — CD player with Alpha Processing, coaxial and optical digital outputs

“Alpha Processing” in gold script and the lettering “PCM Audio Technology” define the black front of this Denon, a player that concentrates on the essentials. The disc tray sits centrally above the red display, the power switch and headphone section are on the left, the transport keys and a rotary knob for track skipping on the right. The wide chassis rests on four gold-trimmed feet.

The DCD-1450AR fits into any stereo system with an RCA input. If you own an external D/A converter, an AV receiver or a digital recorder, you can choose between a coaxial and an optical connection and let that unit handle the conversion. Late-night listening without speakers? A headphone jack with its own level control is right on the front. It is a pure playback unit for audio CDs without recording function.
