TCM 98989 — audio CD recorder with two drives

Two drives side by side, one for playback and one for burning: the TCM 98989 audio CD recorder is made for anyone who wants to copy CDs without a computer or preserve their own music on blank discs. On the left sits the PLAYBACK I drive, on the right the REC/PLAY II drive, which records CD-R and CD-RW and plays both media as well. With source and target in the same chassis, there is no need to cable up a second machine for dubbing.

In a hi-fi system the recorder also works as an ordinary CD player. Its digital inputs and analogue line input accept external sources too – a MiniDisc recorder, a DAT deck, a cassette deck or a turntable via a phono preamp. That way old tapes and records end up on CD-R, which plays in other CD players once finalized.

Highlights & Features

Two separate drives: PLAYBACK I for playback, REC/PLAY II for recording and playing CD-R and CD-RW – each with its own OPEN/CLOSE key, its own MUSIC SKIP and its own play, pause and stop keys.
HIGH SPEED DUBBING I▸II: CD copies inside the unit from drive I to drive II, at increased speed according to the front panel; the copy type is selected with the DUBBING MODE key.
Synchro recording via the SYNC 1/ALL key – a single track or the complete disc.
Recording from external sources: INPUT SELECTOR for the optical and coaxial digital inputs and the analogue line input; digital recording level adjustable via DIGITAL REC LEVEL −/+.
Dedicated FINALIZE and ERASE keys next to the display – finalizing recorded CD-Rs for other players and erasing CD-RWs without going through menus.
SHUFFLE PLAY for random playback and PHONES headphone output (6.3 mm jack) on the front.
