LG DVS7905B — DVD player and VHS video recorder with 6-head hi-fi deck

Play VHS tapes, watch DVDs and connect only one machine to the TV: this LG combination unites a DVD player and a VHS video recorder in a slim 430 mm wide housing. The DVD/VCR button decides which drive is active, and both share the connections and the remote control. The video section records and plays back hi-fi stereo sound, while the DVD section can feed a progressive picture to modern televisions and monitors.

This makes the unit a good fit for households where old family recordings on tape sit next to films bought on disc. Your own DVDs without copy protection can be dubbed onto tape at the press of a button, and via the front sockets the recorder also records from a camcorder or a second video machine. Owners of an AV receiver connect it digitally and enjoy DVD films with multichannel sound.

Highlights & Features

DVD player and VHS video recorder in one housing: both drives share the connections and remote control, switched with the DVD/VCR button.
DVD-to-VHS copying with the COPY button on the front: the DVD section starts playback while the video recorder records at the same time (copy-protected DVDs excluded).
6-head video deck with hi-fi stereo sound plus a normal mono track; recording and playback in SP and LP (double running time per cassette).
Progressive scan via the component outputs (Y Pb Pr) for a steadier picture; alternatively RGB via the SCART socket, selectable with a switch on the rear panel.
Coaxial and optical digital audio output: Dolby Digital and DTS are passed as a bitstream to an AV receiver; switchable 3D surround effect for stereo playback.
Wide disc support: DVD-Video (region code 2), DVD±R/RW, Video CD, SVCD, audio CD and CD-R/RW as well as MP3, WMA and JPEG files and Kodak Picture CDs.
Front AV input (video, audio L/R) for a camcorder or a second video recorder — for dubbing onto VHS.
VHS convenience: slow motion and shuttle search, frame-by-frame playback, CM skip for jumping over commercial breaks in 30-second steps, OPR picture enhancement and automatic tracking.
Recording and playback in 16:9 widescreen format; parental lock and resume playback from the last stopped position on the disc.
