Sherwood CD-2010C — CD player with 4x oversampling, dual D/A converter and headphone output

Black chassis, brushed front panel, gold-coloured feet: the Sherwood CD-2010C presents itself as a classic full-width hi-fi component. Behind the “Digi-Link II” lettering sits a pure CD player whose controls are limited to a single row of keys below the red display. The disc tray is on the left, and on the right a panel states the converter technology inside – the front needs nothing more.

The player connects to the system via a pair of RCA sockets, suitable for the CD or line input of an amplifier or receiver. Anyone who wants to listen quietly or without speakers can plug headphones straight into the front. As a playback-only unit without recording function and without digital output, it suits an analogue stereo system, a second system in the study or simple duty as a source for copying CDs to cassette.

Highlights & Features

4x oversampling with digital filter and dual D/A converter, as stated by the “4 Times Oversampling Digital Filter / Dual D/A Converter” print on the front.
Headphone socket (PHONES) on the right of the front panel for connecting headphones directly, independent of the amplifier.
Track programming via PROG/REV: set your own track order and review it before starting; STOP/CLEAR stops playback and clears entries.
Random playback (RANDOM. P), REPEAT and A↔B repeat of a freely chosen section.
Forward and reverse search (SEARCH) and track skip (SKIP) via dedicated key pairs.
TIME key to switch the time readout in the red display.
Two Digi-Link sockets on the rear for system wiring with Sherwood components.
