Panasonic DMR-BST765 — Blu-ray recorder with 500 GB hard drive, SCART input, 4K output and Wi-Fi

Collecting camcorder clips, old video cassettes and photos in one place and preserving them permanently on disc – that is what this Blu-ray recorder from the Panasonic DIGA range is built for. Inside the slim housing, just 59 mm high, a 500 GB hard drive and a Blu-ray burner work together: whatever is stored on the hard drive can be edited, sorted and then archived to BD-R, BD-RE or DVD.

In the living room the DMR-BST765 also serves as a source for Blu-ray, DVD and music CD. The picture reaches the television exclusively via HDMI, on a 4K set optionally in 4K resolution. Via LAN or Wi-Fi the recorder accesses films, photos and music on the home network. That makes it a good match for anyone who wants to digitise a private video collection and gain a versatile player for the shelf at the same time.

Highlights & Features

500 GB hard drive: up to 3000 titles, recording modes from DR (original quality) through HG, HX, HE, HL and HM to XP, SP and LP – up to approx. 430 hours in LP mode; external USB hard drives can be registered on the rear USB port to move recordings off the internal drive.
Blu-ray burner: recording and archiving to BD-R/BD-RE (single and dual layer), DVD-RAM, DVD-R/-R DL, DVD-RW and +R/+R DL/+RW; copying from the hard drive either with the original or a changed picture quality.
Transfer from external devices: a video recorder or other source on the 21-pin SCART input AV IN (EXT) is recorded to the hard drive in XP, SP or LP mode – directly with the record button or via manual timer programming.
Preserve camcorder footage: copy AVCHD and AVCHD 3D via USB in HD quality to the hard drive or directly to Blu-ray; store and play back 4K videos (MP4/MOV) and 4K photos from USB on the hard drive.
Playback of Blu-ray including Blu-ray 3D and BD-Live, DVD-Video and audio CD as well as video files (MKV, MP4, MPEG-2), photos (JPEG, MPO 3D) and music files in MP3, AAC, WMA, FLAC, ALAC, WAV and DSD from hard drive, disc or USB.
Picture output via HDMI with automatic selection of the best resolution up to 4K, 4K/24p or 1080/24p for Blu-ray films, Deep Colour and 3D playback on 3D-capable televisions; the unit has no analogue video or audio outputs.
Multichannel sound: Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS and DTS-HD as bitstream via HDMI or as PCM up to 7.1 channels; coaxial digital output for AV receivers or D/A converters.
Network via LAN or integrated Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, 2.4 and 5 GHz): DLNA client and media renderer, screen mirroring via Miracast; two USB 2.0 ports, VIERA Link (HDMI-CEC), parental lock and fold-down front flap.
