Panasonic NV-V8000 — S-VHS video recorder with TBC, 7-head transport and editing features

Full-size and compact cassettes in one transport: the NV-V8000 records and plays S-VHS and VHS cassettes as well as the small S-VHS-C and VHS-C cassettes from camcorders — without any adapter, selected at the push of the CASSETTE SELECT button. Camcorder footage goes straight into the recorder, where it is edited, dubbed with new audio and played back with time base correction. A 48 cm wide table-top unit with metal housing and cooling fan, conceived for the editing desk rather than the living-room shelf.

Anyone digitising old tapes today benefits from the switchable time base corrector, the jog/shuttle dial for frame-accurate cueing and the picture and colour level controls that let weak recordings be touched up before capture. The hi-fi sound is levelled manually and monitored on the level meter.

Highlights & Features

Jog/shuttle dial for still frame, variable search speed forward/reverse and frame-accurate navigation; search with sound selectable.
Hi-fi stereo sound with manual level control (Hi-Fi Rec Level L/R) and level meter from –30 to +10 dB; hi-fi/normal mix and MPX filter switchable, bilingual indicator.
Picture Soft/Sharp and Colour Level controls for touching up weak recordings; digital tracking.
