Sony WM-EX190 — Walkman cassette player with MEGA BASS, AVLS and Anti-Rolling Mechanism

Insert a cassette, press PLAY, put on your headphones: this handy Sony Walkman asks for nothing more before your own tape collection can be enjoyed on the move. The silver lid with its blue-tinted, leaf-shaped window sits on a black lower shell, and the back of the housing carries a belt clip. The WM-EX190 is a pure cassette player without recording function and without radio – it concentrates entirely on playback.

It is meant for anyone who wants to play mixtapes, audio-book cassettes or old recordings without a hi-fi system: on the train, out for a walk or simply on the sofa in the evening. Since two standard AA batteries are all it needs, the player is independent of sockets and power adapters, and the few buttons on the side of the housing are easy to find by touch.

Highlights & Features

MEGA BASS: a slide switch on the side of the housing boosts the bass for a fuller, more powerful sound through headphones; in the normal position the sound stays neutral.
AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System): in the LIMIT position the maximum volume stays limited even if the volume control is turned up further – protects the ears, for younger listeners for example.
Anti-Rolling Mechanism (printed on the front): Sony transport design intended to reduce speed fluctuations caused by movement while carrying the player.
Buttons on the side of the housing for playback (PLAY), stop and fast forward/rewind; separate volume control (VOLUME).
Battery operation with 2 AA batteries: according to the manual up to approx. 25 hours of playback with alkaline batteries (JEITA measurement).
Compact housing with silver front, blue-tinted window and belt clip on the back; cassette compartment with OPEN release.
Pure cassette player without recording or radio function.
