Technics SL-PG360A — CD player with MASH conversion, Edit Guide and Peak Search

For anyone who likes to compile their own cassettes, Technics gave this CD player a dedicated control zone: to the right of the display sits the “Edit Guide” key group, used to prepare dubbing onto tape. In terms of sound, the SL-PG360A relies on MASH conversion, a 1-bit method with multi-stage noise shaping, whose logo is printed on the disc tray. The slim full-width hi-fi chassis stands on four large round feet and blends discreetly into any rack.

The player connects to the CD or line input of an integrated amplifier or receiver; a single pair of RCA sockets is all it takes. It is a pure playback machine without a digital output and without a headphone socket. Anyone looking for a straightforward source for an analogue stereo system, or who regularly copies CDs to cassette, gets a unit built exactly for that purpose.

Highlights & Features

MASH D/A conversion (multi-stage noise shaping) using a 1-bit method, “MASH” logo on the disc tray.
Edit Guide for cassette recording: dedicated TAPE LENGTH, SIDE A/B, DISC LINK and TIME FADE keys to the right of the display support copying CDs to tape.
PEAK SEARCH finds the loudest passage on the disc — useful for setting the cassette deck’s recording level beforehand.
AUTO CUE and TIME MODE as dedicated keys; the time display can be switched, and the display shows track, index, minutes and seconds.
Numeric key strip 1–10, 0 and >10 directly below the display for direct track selection on the unit.
Track programming with PROGRAM, RECALL and CLEAR; repeat function (REPEAT) and random playback (RANDOM).
Forward and reverse search (SEARCH) and track skip ◄◄/►► via the transport keys.
Digital Servo System (printed on the front) for transport control; transport according to the service manual: Traverse Deck RAE1100Z.
