Tangent CDP-50 — slim CD player with optical digital output

Slim and reduced to the essentials: at just 75 mm in height, the CDP-50 from Tangent fits into a system even where shelf space is tight. The brushed front panel carries seven equally sized keys next to the mains switch with its status LED, the display above them and the disc tray on the right. The player concentrates on playing audio CDs and passes the signal on either analogue via RCA or digitally via the optical output — it has no recording section.

That makes it a source for a stereo amplifier or receiver, and equally for an external DAC fed through its optical input. Anyone setting up a compact second system in the office or bedroom, or wishing to keep using a CD collection alongside streaming, gets a straightforward player whose basic functions can all be operated on the unit itself.

Highlights & Features

Optical digital output (TOSLINK) for amplifiers, receivers or DACs with a digital input.
Analogue stereo output via RCA for any amplifier with a line input.
Programmed playback in any chosen track order and random playback, both via keys on the front panel.
Display with music calendar: shows the tracks of the loaded CD together with track number and playing time.
Search within a track by holding the Prev/Next key; the search speed increases the longer the key is held.
Mains switch on the front with status LED; slim chassis just 75 mm high.
